My house has a large brick and stone fireplace - approximately 10 feet wide, 4 feet deep, and 14 feet tall, which has settled. It was built in 1980, and the top appears to have shifted about 1.5 inches from vertical. It's not causing a problem, and it's unclear to me if it's something that really needs attention now, or if it can be measured and watched over the next few years to see if the settling has already slowed or stopped.
